Margaret Kilgallen, painter, street artist

Margaret Kilgallen, An important player in the Bay Are Mission School art movement.  Unfortunately, she died at the age 33 from breast cancer.  Her art has power and high graphic impact similar to hand-painted signage.

I recently discovered her art though I have probably seen it many times growing up in the Mission. I am also quite certain that I saw her riding a skateboard with her crew down 16th street. As I watched the doc "beatiful Losers" I said to myself "wow, we should be in love" and became sad when I found out that she died a decade ago. But why should a little thing called death stop me. I will still look at her art and fall for her all over again. She lives, to me she lives.
