"This I Know", lithograph

Finished the 7th color yesterday with Ashley's help.  Need to sign and photograph tomorrow.  Getting ready for my show and a workshop.  Good to get this print done but need to get some perspective... really tired of looking at it. Feeling like I need to add one more color. Didn't get much painting done this week, a bit disappointed.

New litho hat...

A couple of nights ago I made this mask from a picture of Alois Senefelder.  This is one of the new caps I ordered. They were gifts for 2 very helpful students. I plan to have more made when I get back.

Latest color printing...

Pink run Monday evening.

Yesterday was a long day...long but fun.  Ashley helped me print the pink plate and after we printed 2 more editions for her and Mike.   Their editions were both amazing!!!!!

I must admit I will be so glad when the last plate (tan) on my print is printed.  It is scheduled to be printed tomorrow evening and Ashley has agreed to help.

Trying to get ready for upcoming workshop and the show at Davis Dominguez. Busy...

Two more color runs...

Printed the light blue today.
Printed the dark teal tattoo on Saturday.
Today's printing went well.  I had two wonderful people help me print yesterday and today (Mike and Ashley).  It went better than expected both days.  Still have two more colors before the print is finished.  Prepped the Smart Plate tonight and hopefully will print the print tomorrow afternoon (with Ashley's help).  We stripped the prints to speed up the drying process and to allow us to print the next color so soon.

Trying to get ready for this Friday.  Major deadlines et al.  Arghhhhhhhhhhh!
Kudos to Ashley and Mike, I can't thank you enough for helping.

Okay, so Sunday printing didn't go well.  I followed all of my rules but there seemed to still be a problem.  I bought new Sharpie pens (to make sure the ink was free-flowing), I allowed my inked plate to set overnight.  I added mag and setswell to my ink.  Still, the plate dried immediately as I inked.  I could not sponge my plate fast enough.  With 58 prints this was very tiring. So, I decided to try again the next day.   I think that it might have something to do with this batch of "pronto" plates. They are prone to take ink in the wrong areas too often.  So I switched over to "Smart" plates, another brand of polyester plate.
Forgot to mention that I left the plate on the light table overnight.  I was hoping that the heat from the light would help to set the sharpie ink onto the plate. The good news is...printing was seamless.  Amazing.  I have decided if I have a choice I will always choose to use "Smart" polyester plates instead of "Pronto".
Tomorrow I'll work on the 4th color plate.  Think I'm going to do the dark blue color (her celtic tattoo) next.

Outside of printing, the house is a mess and I have to get the car fixed sometime tomorrow.  The "Check Engine" light came on this weekend.  Between "car" stuff and laundry I need to strip my prints (run them throught the press with newsprint to lift off excess ink)  before I print the next color.
Played a few games of Tetris before winding down for the evening. Tired. Tomorrow I prep the other plates.

Slow going...

It's been slow going.  I did my second color (red).  I have 5 more colors to go.  Going antiquing tomorrow with one of the new grad students. Still need to get ready for the upcoming show. Should be painting.
